"The poetry of life fueled the journey towards a visionary destination."

Our Story

THE BIRTH

"It was a Sunday afternoon when I, Fabio Oliveira, a tropical dreamer currently based in the cozy welcoming city of Cork, Ireland, opened my mind, let my creativity loose, and Mo Ghrian was born. On that Sunday, the rare Irish sun flashed through my window, reminding me of my home town in Northeast of Brazil, where the sun shines almost every day and the heat pushes me to enjoy the nature that is all around us. Sandy beaches, astonishing, long and beautiful tropical coasts, or even the dry and sharp countryside full of wilderness, it is all there. It made me think of how different it is over here in Ireland, yet the sun keeps pushing me to not only see a remarkable nature around, but also to embrace the new opportunities life gives us. Like the sun illuminates our paths, Mo Ghrian appeared as a real personal light in my life. Mo Ghrian, Irish for “My sun”, has brought a real passion to my days. With the seed of curiosity and the fondness for gemology, I decided to draw my first piece on paper, and from there, I understood the potential. Inevitably, the possibility of creating jewellery was love at first sight." - F.O.F

THE JOURNEY

In early 2020, Fabio Oliveira’s curiosity and creative call led him into the intricate world of gemology. Immersing himself in all available resources, he began his journey into the craft of jewelry-making. Before long, he started to learn the art at Saint John’s College in the heart of Cork City, Ireland, where he delved deeper into the artistry of metalwork. Around the same time, he pursued jewellery design under the skilled guidance of Luciana Preuss, a master designer from Brazil. By 2021, Fabio had carved out his own space at BenchSpace, a thriving creative hub filled with talented makers. In 2023, he took the next step in his journey, becoming a tutor, helping others bring their unique designs to life. In 2024, his dedication was recognized when he was shortlisted for the prestigious Future Makers Award 2024, organized by the Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI). His work also caught the attention of the media, being featured in The Irish Times during National Craft Month, along with mentions in The Independent and The Echo. Fabio is also part of Distributed Design Platform, an European space for makers aligned with sustainability and innovation.

Fabio’s journey is one of exploration and creativity, and it’s only just beginning. With boundless ideas and a deep passion for the craft, there’s so much more he looks forward to sharing with the world.

THE WORK

The passion for precious gems sparked a flame of creation that continues to burn brightly within each collection. Every piece is carefully crafted with the allure of natural, unusual gems, seamlessly integrated through a masterful blend of metalsmithing techniques. Made with care and intention on the rainy, green shores of the Emerald Isle, Each unique creation is destined to find a home where its brilliance can be fully appreciated.

The inspiration behind these remarkable pieces is as enigmatic as the creative process itself—a bubbling cauldron of ideas. Drawing from the visionary realms of art, nature, mythology, and the cosmos, these designs transcend the ordinary, resulting in wearable art that is both contemporary and timeless. Influences range from the elegance of art nouveau and visionary art to the pulse of music, all enriched by cultural heritage, personal roots, and life experiences.

In a world that often seeks to categorize, this work defies rigid definitions. Instead, each piece becomes a language of its own, expressing what words cannot. Crafted as one-off creations or part of exclusive, limited-run collectors' batches, these designs offer something truly unique for those who appreciate artistry and individuality.
